Daniel Wurtzel (born 1 November 1962) is a contemporary American kinetic artist. He is known for his kinetic sculptures and installations using air and lightweight materials. Wurtzel’s work has been featured in the theater, museums and large-scale events.
Early life and education
Wurtzel was born on 1 November 1962 and grew up in Richmond, VA, the middle of three children. He went to Wesleyan University from 1981 – 1985, where he was awarded a Bachelors of Fine Arts, with a major in Arts and Architecture.[1]
Career
After Wurtzel's graduation from Wesleyan University, he moved to Brooklyn, NY.
In his early career, Wurtzel approached sculpture making by exploring the intrinsic nature various materials including wood, stone and steel,[2] inspired by the artwork of Isamu Noguchi and Richard Serra.
